In Texas Holdem, the initial step is to get the game started, and for this the competitors put out a certain sum of cash. ‘Posting the blinds’ is the frequently used term for this play. In the following step, the dealer shuffles the deck of cards and deals two cards face down to each player. A regular deck of 52 cards is used in the deal. Then there is the initial sequence of betting. This round is normally known as a "pre-flop".

Following the 1st betting round, the top card is discarded. This tossed aside card is called the "burn card", and this is performed to make sure that there is definitely no corruption. The following 3 cards are then dealt face up on the table. These cards are known as ‘the flop’. Now comes a 2nd sequence of wagering, after which the croupier tosses out a further card and flips one more card onto the table. After this, participants can employ the 6th card to form a 5card poker hand.

An additional sequence of wagering follows, and in a good many styles of poker, here is where the wager amount doubles. There is another round of burning a card, and a last placing of a card face-up on the poker table. This is referred to as the "river". Competitors can now employ any of the 5 cards on the table, or the two cards in their pocket, to assemble a five-card poker hand.

To wrap it up there’s another round of wagering. After that, all the players remaining begin to show their hands. This is called the "showdown". Obviously, the player who shows the strongest hand is the winner. When players have tied hands a sharing of the winnings is considered.

Texas Holdem is a simple game to pickup, but to achieve knowledge it requires a fair amount of studying.
