Annie Duke may not have captured her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker win came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk following a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four children. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught her how-to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has won her cut of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Earning over $3 million in tournament play, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his skills and become a power player at the poker table.
You might observe Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll catch her on TV and you might even compete against her in an internet poker game, but do not count on an easy win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
