Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
December 18th, 2015 by Mason
[ English ]

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
