Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
January 23rd, 2016 by Mason

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
