NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he liked playing various card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games as he was playing his father. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little bit and moved to New York to participate in some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were rough as he would play countless hours and fail to win a majority of the time. He made some additional money by becoming an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he could boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more rest and focus attention more on poker.

The real improvement in his skills happened when he started wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable gamblers would regularly challenge each other. Howard had access into a number of the best players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would hone his logical thinking abilities. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

Howard Lederer also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the greatest female players the poker arena today. Howard relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
