Right Before you Tilt
June 2nd, 2026 by Mason

Ah, the tilt. If a poker enthusiast claims never to have stared faced down the shadow of an approaching poker tilt – they are either telling a lie or they have not been wagering for a long time. This doesn’t infer of course that every player has gone on steam before, a number of people have awesome willpower and take their losses as a defeat and keep it at that. To be a powerful poker gambler, it’s very critical to treat your wins and your losses in a similar way – with little emotion. You compete in the game in the same manner you did after taking a difficult loss as you would after winning a great hand. All poker pros are not attracted by tilting following a bad loss as they are highly seasoned and you really should be to.

You have to be certain that you cannot win each and every hand you are in, regardless if you are heavily favored. Hands that frequently make people go on tilt are hands you were the favored or at least thought you were until you were side swiped and you lost a big portion of your bankroll. Bad losses are going to happen. Accept that fact right now, I will say it once more – if your sister plays cards, if your father enjoys cards, if your grandparents play cards – They have all had poor losses sometime. It is an inevitable experience of participating in Texas Hold’em, or really any kind of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (nearly all of us) playing poker for one reason – to earn money, it certainly makes sense that we will wager accordingly to maximize winnings. Now let us say you are up $100 off of a $100 deposit, and you take a big hit in a NL game and your stack is down to $120. You have burned $80 in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and had a 10 – 1 advantage. And that amateur! He banged you out on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a classic choice for a brand-new gambler to begin tilting. They really just lost too much cash on one round that they should have won and they’re pissed
